Mercy Minutes with Jesus (from Saint Faustina’s Diary)

May 26 ~ Indifferent and Lukewarm Souls

Theme:  Eucharist

“September 19, 1937. Today, the Lord told me, ‘My daughter, write that it pains Me very much when religious souls receive the Sacrament of Love merely out of habit, as if they did not distinguish this food. I find neither faith nor love in their hearts. I go to such souls with great reluctance. It would be better if they did not receive Me.’(Mercy Minutes with Jesus/Diary, 1288)

My prayer response:

Lord Jesus, may my love, faith and fervor in receiving You in the Eucharist be an ardent prayer for indifferent and lukewarm souls – that You may not be pained. May their hearts be set aflame with love for You. (Mercy Minutes with Jesus)

  1. I find this proclation of Jesus heavy hearth for let’s say indifferent people. In another section Jesus was quoted saying”the most evil person has the right for his most abundant mercy”. How come he is speaking about two levels of love and mercy?

    1. Godwin, God loves you no less and no more than He loves me or any of your neighbors. In Saint John’s First Letter, he writes “…God is love” (1 John 4:8b). And Saint Faustina wrote in her Diary, “Mercy is the flower of love. God is love, and mercy is His deed” (Diary, § 651).

Our Lord also revealed to her, “My Heart overflows with great mercy for souls, and especially for poor sinners. If only they could understand that I am the best of Fathers to them and that it is for them that the Blood and Water flowed from My Heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy” (Diary, § 367).

And in answer to your question, our Lord also said, “The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy. My mercy is confirmed in every work of My hands. He who trusts in My mercy will not perish, for all his affairs are Mine, and his enemies will be shattered at the base of My footstool” (Diary, § 723).

And He said further, “[Let] the greatest sinners place their trust in My mercy. They have the right before others to trust in the abyss of My mercy. My daughter, write about My mercy towards tormented souls. Souls that make an appeal to My mercy delight Me. To such souls I grant even more graces than they ask. I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion, but on the contrary, I justify him in My unfathomable and inscrutable mercy” (Diary, § 1146).

As you can see, God truly is Love! And His Divine Mercy is truly the flower of such unfathomable Love!

      Peace and God’s blessings, †
      Ed
