According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we read in §1471:
“An indulgence is a remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the action of the Church…”
A plenary indulgence is, in itself, the removal of all temporal punishment due to the sins committed and forgiven which we owe to God’s Divine Justice.
Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, has given new directives regarding being able to receive a plenary indulgence during these difficult times in which we are now living.
I have included below a video link explaining all this and more from Father Chris Alar, MIC, from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy.
God’s peace and blessings to each and every one of you and all your loved ones. †
